Mimico - Long Branch

Lake Ontario sets the character of this southernmost part of Etobicoke. This neighbourhood was created when four old villages – Alderwood, New Toronto, Long Branch, and Mimico – were joined together.

This gives a unique, small town feel to this area, and a healthy mix of housing options makes it even more sought-after a neighbourhood.

In the Eastern section of this area there is a development of new condominiums that are now standing where there was a strip of motels, along Highway 2, once the main highway to the city. Recently, I sold a luxury, high-end condo for $1 million here.

The Humber Collage Campus and Colonel Samuel Smith Park provide great opportunities for weekend picnics near the water

For me, Mimico is the prettiest part of this area, with a real village feel. Alderwood is the newest area, and also is the closest to the highway.

And, not to forget about the best kept secret of this neighbourhood, I should also mention the Sanremo Bakery (374 Royal York Road, phone: 416-255-2808) with the best Italian bread I've ever tasted.
